Government funding reductions could see Stoke-on-Trent City Council face £50m cuts

GOVERNMENT ministers have masked the scale of cuts facing the region's councils by 'smuggling' huge reductions into the second half of a two-year funding agreement, it is claimed.
Eric Pickles pledged Stoke-on-Trent City Council would lose just 0.2 per cent of its 'spending power' next year in the latest round of Government cuts to council funding – handing the council one of the best settlements in the country.
  1. Mohammed Pervez
Council leader Mohammed Pervez has accused the government of fiddling with the figures.
But the authority's finance managers say emerging details about the second year of funding in the same settlement mean spending power will actually be cut by more than five per cent over two years.
It means cuts of £50 million – including £21.1 million in 2013/14 – will go ahead.
Peter Bates, the city council's director of finance, accused the Department of Communities and Local Government (DCLG) of releasing inaccurate funding information in an error-strewn official email.
He said: "It's hugely disappointing from my perspective. They are still doing their sums. We still don't have all of the information we need but based on the headline figures they have provided we are much worse off than suggested.
"I received a personally-addressed email today from the civil service at the DCLG – and the figures do not even add up. That's the sort of professionalism we're dealing with at the moment.
"Funding for 2013/14 will be better than predicted, although by how much is still not clear. But what they have given us in 13/14 they have taken away, and more, in 2014/15."
Mr Pickles has faced criticism for releasing funding data based on 'spending power' calculations, which offset funding cuts by taking into account assumed income from the NHS, house-building bonuses and business rates.
Newcastle Borough Council expects the true scale of cuts to be more than double the DCLG's announcement of a 2.1 per cent reduction in spending power – leading to additional cuts of £1 million from 2014.
City council leader Mohammed Pervez, below, said: "They have fiddled with the figures to make the percentages look lower. If you look at the detail, we have again been hit very hard.
"To some extent the percentages are irrelevant. We want to know what the absolute cut to our funding is and they still haven't made that clear. In the first year we probably are a little bit better off than expected – but they are taking all of the money back and more in the second year.
"We are expecting to have to make savings of £50 million over two years. It is our worst nightmare, brought to life.
"They've made it sound like they've done the city a favour but in fact these are deep cuts which are seriously undermining our efforts to provide jobs and growth in the city."

and yet the people will vote for the corrupt lying two faced labour councillors what they don't tell you is that we have a debt off council tax rent outstanding will they lose there salaries oh no only recently they voted for a pay rise but as per usual they will blame the government but 1 question labour are the opposition party why are they not representing there voters and saying no considering the voters voted them in but as usual a total waste of time its a bout time stoke on trent loses these losers and voted them out once and for all

yet more community centers gone

'Betrayed' users of Ball Green Community Centre will 'never vote Labour again'Trusted article source iconSaturday, November 10, 2012Profile image for The SentinelThe SentinelRESIDENTS who are set to lose their battle to save a popular community centre have vowed never to vote Labour again.People who use Norton and Ball Green Community Centre say they feel ‘betrayed’ by Labour city councillors Andrew Lilley and Duncan Walker, who voted to close the facilities across Stoke-on-Trent.They say they are not to prepared to take on the running of the centre which is earmarked for closure on January 31.Greg Stockton, chairman of the centre’s committee, said: “I am totally devastated about leaving this place, as are all the people who use it.“It is a vital part of the community and I can’t believe our Labour councillors have betrayed us in this way.“I have voted Labour all my life, but never again.”Stoke-on-Trent City Council offered committees a community asset transfer to take over the responsibility of running the centres.Greg added: “We can’t afford to run it on our own but our offer of £5,000 to help with costs was ignored.”Norton Community Centre is used by around 600 people a week who attend pensioner groups and dance clubs. The twice weekly bingo night will now be held at the Norton Workingmen’s Club.Greg added: “We just wanted to take a small piece of the community centre with us. Other groups will have to arrange their own space.”Volunteer Dawn Sarapuk, aged 51, of Burnett Place, Norton, said: “We’re trying to make the best of a bad situation, but a lot of these people are elderly and disabled and can’t travel the extra distance.”Committee member June Burgess, aged 79, of Pinfold Avenue, Norton, said: “It’s like the council is trying to divide us. The committee has worked so hard to keep the centre going. We’re going to have to do our best to continue as a community.”Members of the Labour-controlled city council voted unanimously to reject a motion calling for the £162,000 hall subsidy cuts to be referred to a scrutiny committee for further debate last month. It followed the presentation of a petition signed by more than 3,100 residents demanding a rethink.Committee member Roy Wedgwood, aged 82, of Sneyd Green, said: “Democracy is taking into account the opinions of the people. Our council clearly doesn’t know the meaning of the word. There are plenty of us here who regularly voted Labour. I don’t think there are many, if any, who ever will again.”Residents have decided to donate any surplus money from the centre’s accounts and sale of assets – around £5,000 – to local charities. The council operates community halls in Tunstall, Packmoor, Norton and Ball Green, Goldenhill, Bentilee, Meir Park, Joiners Square, Smallthorne, Bradeley and Fenton. Halls in Birches Head and Smallthorne have already been closed down.Councillor Ruth Rosenau, cabinet member for regeneration, planning and transportation, said: “There is a community asset transfers policy and the council will support and assist groups where possible, to achieve this.“Any new community groups which have not registered an expression of interest can still approach the council to work on drafting a business plan for asset transfer.”yet this morning i have received a text saying smallthorne is to be kept open now is it the fact that this council has of loaded it onto the residents of smallthorne through a community asset transfer or is the council doing what it was elected into do and they are running what ever has  now being decide going by labours track record it will lead to it closing whether it be now or 1-2 years it will happen it will close and   now if its down to the residents association and the community to run it they have all the repairs to fund out for but when its the council and its so called good guys of councilors to look after these premises they were elected in to represent us and they are not doing this by any means which it is complete betrayal of all the people around here  but labour is the pulling the wool over people eyes and they are falling right into the trap lets see what the future brings because ill stress now ill be here in 5-10-15 years still digging away at this evil curupt labour council like the saying is what goes around comes around the worm will turn and when it does ill expose everything these so called good guys have done the day will come and all these vile lies all these curupt ways will be  brought out people will get to no the truth the proper truth not the lies that labour spew with there lapdogs ( hope not hate -uaf -norfscarf)  i will stress again the people of this area have brought and payed for this facility through means of the taxes they have payed in and the sole responsibility lies with the council to run them but oh no labour doing what they do best punishing the people of this city now  how much these labour councilors try to play the good guys they voted for the closer of these places in the budget all 33 of them VOTED now we only have to look at what they got planned next building a eye sore of a building in hanley forget about the people who work in stoke that doesn't matter perves and his goonified followers want it in hanley yet more jobs lost that's should tell people what all labour councilors stand for and what there agenda is  but lets see what the mandate for destruction brings next ill be watching with anticipation to see what labour and its mandate of destruction brings

“Muslims: Bin Your Poppy!” Says Mr Hate Himself, Anjem Choudary #casualsunited #edl #evf #cxf #bfp

“Bin Your Poppies!” Radical Islamist Preacher Anjem Choudary Sparks Twitter Outrage

Anjem Choudary
Radical preacher Anjem Choudary has called on all Muslims in Britain to destroy their Remembrance Day poppies.
The Islamist, who was born and educated in the UK, sent a stream of messages to his 2,500 Twitter followers, with the tagline BIN YOUR POPPY.
The tweets included:
Choudary, a prominent figure in banned groups such as Islam4UK and Muslims Against Crusades, has repeatedly courted controversy with his militant Islamic stance. He has previously stated that Islam plans to dominate Britain and America, that Shariah law zones should be established across the UK, and that Norwegian nationals should be taken hostage in retribution for the massacre perpetrated by anti-Islam campaigner Anders Breivik.

Labour uaf hope not hate norfscarf call us the nazi and racists

UK Pakistani Muslims Openly Express Support For Adolf Hitler and The Holocaust

I was recently sent this disgusting screenshot (Click to enlarge) thanks too Soldat Amir.
The screenshot is of the Facebook page “Proud to be a Pakistani” which is run by UK based, Pakistani Muslim admins.
The admins of the page posted an image condemning the anti-Muslim Movie released in America, below it was an image of Adolf Hitler accompanied by the text “Let Me Salute To Hitler The Great” as well as praising a disgusting phrase Adolf Hitler made about the Jews, after slaughtering over 6 Million Jewish men, women and children.
Adolf Hitler was once quoted saying: “The only religion I respect is Islam. The only prophet I admire is the Prophet Muhammad.”
Islamic support for Hitler and Nazism is nothing new. The Grand Mufti of Jerusalem helped design the gas chambers that were used to exterminate hundreds of Jews at a time in Auschwitz and many other extermination camps, The Mufti, hoping that the Germans would win the war, was planning to return to Jerusalem and exterminate the remaining Jews living in the holy land.
It is also common knowledge that, following the Nazi occupation of Yugoslavia, the Nazi forces formed a Bosnian Muslim SS division, The Nazi’s also armed Indian Muslims during World War 2, and there was even a Waffen SS Tiger division which comprised of mainly Muslims, although they never saw action, the division still existed.
The admin of the page asked for those who agree to “like” the picture, the picture then received 33 likes in the first few hours and counting, as well as Muslim comments expressing support, such as: “The great man [referring to Adolf Hitler] of the world” and “He was very smart, he was aware who is who” comments are highlighted in red:
The admins are then hypocritical enough to post a picture of two Dhimmi’s holding placards too demand  an end to “attacks on Muslims” and “anti-Muslim bigotry” whilst at the same time agreeing with the idea’s and actions of one of the most bigoted, racist mass murderers in history.
As you can see, the picture upload location states: London, England.

being called a racist is slander

Slander Law & Legal Definition

Slander is the oral communication of false statements that are harmful to a person's reputation. If the statements are proven to be true, it is a complete defense to a charge of slander. Oral opinions that don't contain statements of fact don't constitute slander. Slander is an act of communication that causes someone to be shamed, ridiculed, held in contempt, lowered in the estimation of the community, or to lose employment status or earnings or otherwise suffer a damaged reputation. Slander is a subcategory of defamation.
The basic elements of a claim of slander include;
  1. a defamatory statement;
  2. published to third parties; and
  3. which the speaker or publisher knew or should have known was false.
Slander is primarily covered under state law, but is subject to First Amendment guarantees of free speech. The scope of constitutional protection extends to statements of opinion on matters of public concern that do not contain or imply a provable factual assertion. If the slander unjustly accused you of a crime or reflected on your profession, the court or jury can assess the damages. For other types of slander you generally must prove some actual damage to be able to recover.
Slander of title is a common law tort involving a disparaging remark regarding ownership of property. It affects the owner's ability to transfer the property, resulting in a monetary loss.

in other words being called a racist when clearly theres no proof constitutes to slander so  for me  for instance being called a racist when its clearly not true is slander and clearly against the law

the community centre of smallthorne

The group of stoke bnp have being out distributing my leaflet. What the leaflet tells you is that the marxist labour council of stoke on trent is enforcing tory policy and taking the facility's from the people of this once great city. The people of this once great city have bought and payed for these facilities by means of council tax  and other taxes forced upon them. So this is neglect from these councilors what this marxist labour council is asking is for the community to take over the running of this centre there for the amount needed is £31,000 but why should these residents have to find that? labour are always telling us that they represent us  but is it fair now to say that they don't so what miliband was saying in the labour conference was false. A UNITED BRITAIN  UNDER LABOUR who is he trying to kid more like uniting more of the tax payers money into his party and his own pockets whilst the rest of us suffer. This is what has happened since labour as taken charge in stoke on trent

ive posted a videohttp://youtu.be/6_k_mxfVXO4  please have a watch
